Golden yellow in the glass, exceptionally strong colour for a white. The nose is giving sweet aromas of apples, caramel and honey, a really polished nose. The palate is outstanding, really creamy with hints of citrus fruits, very little oak. Classical finish, so polished that you'll be dazzled by this wine. I really recommend this Chardonnay very highly possibly the best Chardonnay currently produced in Italy. (SN - 01/07)

Trenette al cartoccio (oven cooked pasta wrapped in an aluminium foil), Ravioli (pasta) with rhombus fish and lemon sauce, hand made Tagliolini (pasta) with truffle, boiled beef. After some years of bottle ageing, drink it with mouldy or mature cheese.

The 2006 vintage scores 4/5 in Sicily. This wine is the best Chardonnay in Italy. The Planeta Chardonnay should be drunk young and will be at its finest expression between now and the end of 2009.
The Chardonnay of Planeta is the consistently the best bottling of the producer with many of the past vintages praised throughout the world.

Planeta is the biggest winary in Sicily and produces some very high quality wines that are very popular within Italy itself. Planeta is a commercial winery whose bottle labeling, advertising, and PR events are very 21st century and attracts a younger kind of drinker. That said, wine experts also praise the vineyards and, for the price, some of the wines are exceptional value and many score highly with the critics gaining 90+ points with Parker and WineSpectator. The wines come from four seperate areas of Sicily. The Buonivini vineyard in Noto produces the Nero d'Avola and Moscato di Noto and has been in operation since 2003. The Ulmo vineyard in Sambuca di Sicilia is the original vineyard of Planeta and from here they produce the Chardonnay and Fiano. The Dispensa vineyard in Menfi is the home of the Planeta family and produces the Merlot, Syrah and Burdese. The Dorilli vineyard in Vittoria is home to the company's Cerasuolo.
