A really charming, traditional wine from the vineyards of Sicily. A wine that highlights the unique characteristics of that region at a very special price.

Taste	Sweet, ripe black cherry, and chocolate notes with undertones of vanilla.
Colour	Beautiful dense ruby with purple hues.
Nose	The bouquet immediately seemed floral but further down the glass was a continual raspberry.
Accompanies	A real chameleon as the wine itself emits many different notes on the palate and the bouquet. Such a versatile red it compliments the traditional red meats and spicy cheeses as well as chocolate based desserts.

Nero d'Avola has been cultivated in southern Italy since the sixteenth century when it was commonly referred to as Calabrese (from its popularlity in the region of Calabria). In the early nineteenth-century, winemakers in the township of Avola (Siracusa) were so successful with their plantings of the grape that it took on the name Nero d'Avola, or the Red from Avola.

TCD Score: 85/100

A score of 85 for a "classic" from Sicily. Nero d'Avola is one of the most famous products of the region. There are very few bottles that reach DOC status, indeed only one DOC is imported into the states. We are proud to have a DOC in this variety especially at this price.

Elorina

Close to the coast on the south eastern tip of Sicily stands a vineyard gaining each year in reputation, that of Elorina. Incorporated in 1978, it hoped to succeed in delivering a perfect expression of the viticulture of Italy's most beautiful region. The tastes of smells of Sicily and world renowned and the Elorina vineyard manages to take the essense of traditional Sicily and couple it with the new winemaking processes and create beautiful DOC ranked wines that are calling out to be tasted. Today Elorina produces 7 different bottling each year of which 6 are D.O.C.
