35% Nebbiolo, 35% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon
Flavours of thick black cherries (the nebbiolo), blueberries (the merlot), and chocolate-covered-espresso-stuffed raspberries (cabernet).
Attractive ruby red.
Four star year - considered great.
Although you can not doubt that this is a very good wine, it's a wine that splits opinion in this fiercly traditional region. In our opinion Angelo Gaja has created a fantastic wine blended from 3 popular grapes. A vertatile and challenging wine, you will be certain to form a strong opinion about it. All serious wine enthusiasts will want to give it a try.
This blend of 3 of the world's favourite grapes produces a wine of sheer quality. A strong wine with good length and balance. All 3 grapes are present in different stages... MORE INFO

91 points. 2005 was a very good year in the Piedmont, the "Sito Moresco" is already drinking well but will benefit from a few years of cellaring. This is a wine for the enthusiast who loves to see progression in wine. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2015
Richly fruited, medium-bodied palate showing a very subtle touch of spicy new oak.
Beautiful gold in the glass.
4 star year - considered good.
Another of Angelo Gaja's experiments, the Gaja Rossj-Bass is possibly Italy's best Chardonnay.
This is a crisp fresh young wine that once poured goes through many stages in the glass. The wine starts with floral notes, then the oak begins to emerge with the fruit and... MORE INFO

91 out of 100 for this wonderful Chardonnay from the Piedmont. A really crisp tasty wine that lingers on the palate. These wines are best drunk young in our opinion but they are made with such quality they can actually be cellered for up to 10 years.
Really densely packed flavours of plums and backberrys, crushed black pepper finish.
Very dark ruby red, one of the darkest wines we carry.
5 star year - considered excellent.
Gaja's Darmagi is an excellent wine and a very fine Cabernet but still it doesn't quite rate up there with it's Barolos and Barbarescos. It might take Angelo Gaja a few more years to bring the Darmagi up to the world class levels of the Barolo & Barbaresco.
The Darmagi is a unique wine, a new wine in the history of the vineyard where Italy's best terroir is matched with the worlds favourite grape. Cabernet Sauvingnon + The... MORE INFO

92 points for a high quality Cabernet that benefits from cellaring. This is a Cabernet Sauvignon from the Piedmont! It must be tried to appreiciate the effects of the terroir on this grape. A very interesting wine. The wine improves year upon year. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023.
Classic Barolo characteristics: ripe, expansive black cherry and strawberry fruit, truffles, minerals and spice, and streaks of tar. Exploding with flavor. Uncommon complexity and stature, with full body, firm tannins, and a stern overlying countenance typical of Serralunga wines.
Deep rich red colour.
5 Stars Year - Considered Excellent. One of the vineyards most powerful wines, this dark enigmatic wine is very complex with a nose that is all Barolo. Tar, licorice and the hints of new oak tell you immediately that this offering is quality. The wine is well balanced and has a tremendous pure finish. The taste of plums, prunes and cassis will linger on the tongue for 30 seconds. The wine benefits from several hours open to the air.
Initially the hints of cassis give this wine a Super Tuscan feel but on the second sip the ripe fruits of the Piedmont soon start pouring forward. Each year this wine... MORE INFO

95 points for what is fast becoming one of the world's most favourite Angelo Gaja wines. Highly recommended as a near perfect expression of the vineyard in a 5 star year.
The Gaja Winery was founded by Giovanni Gaja in 1859 and has been owned and operated by four generations of the Gaja family. Giovanni Gaja was the great-grandfather of Angelo Gaja, the Winery's current owner.
In 1994 Gaja acquired its first wine estate in Tuscany, Pieve Santa Restituta in Montalcino. The property's forty acres of vineyards produce two Brunello di Montalcino wines called Sugarille and Rennina.
In 1996 Gaja acquired a second property in Tuscany, Ca'Marcanda, located in Castagneto Carducci in Bolgheri. Of the property's 200 acres, 150 have been planted with new vineyards: primarily Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, as well as Cabernet Franc and Syrah.
Currently, the Gaja Winery owns 250 acres of vineyards in Piedmont, located in the Barbaresco district (Barbaresco and Treiso) and the Barolo district (Serralunga d'Alba and La Morra).
