Fruity wine, full-bodied and robust, well-balanced with tannin and oak features.
Intense ruby red colour with violet nuances.
Traditional Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, a favourite of the local wine enthusiasts. This wine is growing in popularity outside of Italy. Once a wine thought "rough and burly" the 2005 vintage is refined and polished.
Dark deep reddish purple with garnet hues. A subtle nose but clear aromas of coffee and dark chocolate, the wine smells like Tiramisu in a glass. A touch of wood on the... MORE INFO

This wine is a kirsch, peppery, black cherry fruit. On the attack, it offers good ripeness and purity, medium body, and a savory, uncomplicated, mouthfilling style. 89 points for the 2005 quality bottling from Zaccagnini.
Four star vintage considered excellent. A very particular wine, almost unique. Coming from ancient origins, a grape that was once thought lost was rediscovered and harvested to its best expression here in this wine.
The famous, once thought lost to the world, Pecorino grape finds its most celebrated expression in this bottling. Try it. MORE INFO

The quality of this wine is unquestioned and represents one of the best expression of production in Abruzzo. A score of 87 points for a unique wine.
Persistent with a good freshness and tannic weave.
Ruby red with purple hue.
Vintage very difficult for the Sicilian viticulture. Climate occurrence that has encouraged massive attacks of mildew that has led to loss of production. However, the fewer bunches per vine, brought to an excellent quality of the product. Harvest very early especially for whites.
You wont find this wine available anywhere else. A great little wine under €10 that is smooth and elegant yet with that Syrah like strength. To be tried. MORE INFO

88 Points for the Don Pasquale, a step up in Nero d'Avola production from the Carmen.
Full bodied and powerful, big tannins and a luscious mouth feel.
Dark ruby red with blue like tints.
Villa Gemma can be the best Montepulciano d'Abruzzo wine but in this vintage it falls short, go for the 1998 if you can find it.
Really dark purple in the glass. Big brooding nose with obvious blackberries and spice a secondary licorice note on the end. The mouth feel is huge, coating but with heavy... MORE INFO

89 Points for a good effort from Masciarelli. The wine is very strong MdA but we feel at this price there is better. This is not the best vintage, 2003 was very hot across Italy and produced a few unbalanced wines, that and the combination of oak that is too heavy in this bottle keeps it under 90 points.
